There has been a church on this site in Ringmore, Devon probably as early as the seventh century. The Lord of the Manor of Haccombe, Sir Stephen de Haccombe, built the present church of St. Nicholas as a thanks offering on his return from the crusades in the 13th century. The lancet windows in the east end of the church are from that period. Although many modifications have been made over the centuries, the church as seen today is still the same size and shape as when it was first built. The chapel is 42ft long by 17ft wide and can accommodate 60 people. St. Peter's, Shaldon became the primary church of the parish when it was built in 1903.
